Marc Schechter has 18 years of litigation experience. He handles all aspects of civil litigation for national insurance carriers, ranging from automobile negligence actions to wrongful death and complex litigation matters. As part of his practice, Mr. Schechter has developed in-depth knowledge of medical billing and overbilling challenges, as well as expert witness and treating physician issues.
Mr. Schechter began his legal career at an insurance defense law firm. He later launched his own firm, which he operated for more than 10 years. During this time, he also directed the daily operations of a media entertainment and marketing company serving a domestic and international client base across multiple industries. His clients
included Fortune 500 companies, and he worked with many CEOs, musicians, artists, movie actors, and television personalities.
After the client company and its intellectual properties were acquired, Mr. Schechter returned to defense work as a trial attorney for GEICO. He was responsible for directly representing the company, its subsidiaries and their insureds in all aspects of insurance defense, including auto negligence and subrogation cases, EUOs, and wrongful
death actions. He was often involved in complex litigation at GEICO, which gave him the opportunity to enhance his courtroom, negotiation, communication, and client interaction skills.
Mr. Schechter knew from his early days as a Florida State University Seminole that he would not be just another traditional lawyer.
While working as an intern investigator at the Office of the Public Defender in the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida, Mr. Schechter was assigned to a highly publicized first degree murder case. He researched and gathered information and evidence from Tallahassee to Miami in support of trial preparation. As the defendant proclaimed his innocence and negative press surrounded the case, Mr. Schechter chose to dedicate his career to becoming a defense lawyer.
Mr. Schechter continues to sharpen his mediation skills on a daily basis with his five children. He is an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast who says, “If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand…”
